TRACTION
Intersegmental Traction/Spinalator

Continuous traction provides a certain amount of immobilization and relieves muscle spasm; it enlarges the invertebral foramen to relieve compressive or irritative forces upon the nerve roots.

Intermittent traction relieves muscle spasm, reduces swelling, improves circulation in the tissue, and prevents formation of adhesions between the dural sleeves of the nerve roots and the adjacent capsular structures.

Intersegmental Traction/Spinalator is a form of traction achieved through use of a mechanical table which induces a separation of spinal joints and stretching of myoligamentous attachments.

It is used for strengthening of myoligamentous attachments, inducing motion in the spine which aids in the breakup of fixation and possible restoration of normal spinal curves.
